  The Estaire-Wanup Volunteer Fire Department will be 30 years old in 2010. It is run and operated  totally by unpaid volunteers. The fire coverage area is without any kind of municipal government so there is no tax base to pay the costs. The province supplies a fire truck and some equipment and WSIB coverage for the firefighters. All of the other expenses are dependant on donations and fundraisers and some fee for service work i.e. highway vehicle rescue. The firefighters must take all of and more than the training that any other firefighter in Ontario is required to do.We are looking for NEW VOLUNTEERS. We cannot give you money, but we can promise an adrenaline rush now and then. The fire department operates as a charitable corporation with a publicly elected board of directors. The department has a very active auxiliary raising funds for new equipment. The auxiliary also ensures that firefighters have food and refreshments when on extended emergency calls.

  We have a Family Fishing Derby in Estaire on August 7, 2010. Contact Jenny at 705  695-2687. The rules are simple;- biggest pike caught during the derby wins the first prize of $500.00. There are also cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd place, plus there are a ton of draw prizes. Registration for the derby includes a meal at the end while the awards are being given out.

Our annual yard sale ,September 11 and 12  is held right byEstaire Rd. and Nelson Dr. in Estaire. Watch for the big red and white tents.

WE HAVE BEGUN  CONSTRUCTION ON OUR NEW FIREHALL IN ESTAIRE
